This perfectly sums up how I feel about life right now. I think it may also be why so many of us are depressed, overwhelmed, and lost on life. We keep blaming it on the pandemic but i think it runs deeper than that. Society just isn’t the same & we’re trying super hard to adjust to the past.
1 dollar heros and 25cent chips would sound like a fantasy world if I didn't live it. Bamboozled is the word of my day😭😭. Sending you prayers on your search from one educator to another.
Didn’t realize how much I’d miss Golden Krust until I left 😩 and yes there was one corner store on Franklin and Carroll that did this years ago. Literally a slice of meat, a slice of cheese, and mayo on a hero lolll. Regular heros were $3 at MOST.
If I hadn't read in the beginning part of your essay where you said ‘Brooklyn, NY’, I would have sworn that you are a Nigerian writing about your Nigerian experience. Things are just as bad (or even worse) here as well, it seems that the government of all, or most countries do not care about their people.
You are a good writer. Good luck with your job search, I hope you find one that helps you think of the future with a smile on your face.
Wow thank you for all of your kind words! It’s sad to think this is an experience that resonates globally, but I’m comforted in knowing that I’m not alone in this battle. It’s sick how governments turn their backs on the people they’re supposed to serve. I was tempted to add the call of action to VOTE, but things have been getting worst with each new administration. Anyway, thank you again and sending well wishes your way!

That's exactly it-- trying to adjust to the past. We've been set up

I feel like this had to be written as a reminder that it actually existed! lol
And thank you for your prayers and well wishes!
Wishing desperately for some Golden Krist- I’d pay top dollar with for a beef patty with cheese right now. $1 for a hero though ?!

I felt this. I’m bamboozled every time I go to the store these days and the prices are ridiculous. Sending warmth your way!
Star-struck in the middle of the grocery store sis! We’ve been gaslit. Sending love right back at you!
